2017 WBYL PROGRAM SUMMARY
 

K, 1st Grade, & 2nd Grade - WBYL House League

 

**WYL provides all K players with all necessary equipment (a $180.00 value!) at no cost.  Any other 1st year player gets all necessary equipment for $90.00 (a 50% discount!).

  • Players are divided into three, grade - based divisions: a K Division, a 1st Grade Division & a 2nd Grade Division.

  • Within each division, evenly weighted teams of 8 - 10 players are established.

  • All games & practices are held in Winchester.

  • Teams practice 1x per week (Mon - Wed) for 1 hour.

  • K - 2 skill session every Fri on Ginn Field.  

  • Practice days & time TBD.  Skill session time TBD.

  • Game day is on Sunday early AM through late afternoon.

  • Game day structure:

    • warm up (5 mins)

    • 1st half (20 mins)

    • instructional half time (10 mins)

    • 2nd half (20 mins)

    • combine both teams for fun event (5 mins) 

  • Two league wide events:

    • HL players paired with WHS varsity players for skill instruction/development

    • HL end of year player/parent BBQ  

 

 

3rd & 4th Grades - Town Pride League, Small Ball Division

 

Any 1st year player gets all necessary equipment for $90.00 (a 50% discount)!

  • Participate in the TPL.

  • Smaller field & fewer players (7v7).

  • Players are divided into two or three, level - loaded teams.

  • Two practices per week.

  • TPL games on Sundays.

 

5th, 6th, 7th, 8th Grade - Town Pride League, Full Field Division

 

Any 1st year player gets all necessary equipment for $90.00 (a 50% discount)!

 

  • Season starts Mar 27, 2017.

  • Participate in the TPL.

  • Players are divided into two teams.

  • One team will play in the TPL - A Division and one team will play in the TPL - B Division.

  • Players are placed on either the A Team** or the B Team based on the following: coaches evaluations, 3rd party evaluations, & demonstrated commitment to the sport of lacrosse.

  • Practice 3x's per week.

  • TPL games on Sundays.

  • Possibility of added games on other days.

  • Participate in the Border Battle which is held on June 3rd & 4th in Darien, CT.

  • Participate in the TPL Tournament.

 

**The rosters for the A Teams are built through selective tryouts.  Participation on the A Teams come with the following expectations:
 

  1. Attend all practices and games, prioritizing lacrosse as their primary sport during the spring season.

  2. Players are expected to arrive at all practices and games on time and stay for the duration.

  3. Proper attitude and effort is expected.

 

​***After placements, WYL reserves the right to reassign a player to the A or B Team at the coaches discretion.  Potential reasons for assignment are, but not limited to, performance, attitude, attendance, effort.

 

****Can a girl play for Winchester Boys Youth Lacrosse?  Yes!

All boys and girls that play for WBYL will play the boy's version of the sport.  Therefore, everyone must wear all of the appropriate gear:
